Tuesday's Best 8-7-2012

Good morning, my lovelies. Hope you're all having a great day. Connie and MizzDee have found some lovely stories to share with you, so let's get right down to it, shall we?

~*~*~*~*~*~

I was in need of a good cry. You know how we get somedays...

So I went for one of my all time favourites tearjerker I know and love Structurally Unsound is an oldie and a classic in my book.

What starfish422 does in this one shot is break your heart in tiny little pieces; and you know what? It is so beautifully done that by the end you are crying and you don't even care.

The room is dark; the air is humid, heavy and still. The only sound comes from outside, the infinite loop of the Pacific Ocean waves meeting the shore a hundred yards from our home. We both lie in our bed, facing away from each other. We've lain here, not speaking, for several hours; though it's now well after midnight, we're not sleeping. We have a king-sized bed, but it might as well span the Grand Canyon, so great is the chasm between us.

It is hard to describe all the emotions that run through your mind while reading Jasper & Edward´s story. The story is told with flashbacks to happier times and a very insightful look at the present time in their relationship. How they got here? Can you pinpoint the exact moment they stop loving each other?

Our careers are more solid – he's a published author, I compose music for movie scores – and you would think that with more security and plans for a solid future, we'd be relaxed, even happier than we were when we were young and broke.

Instead we've become apathetic, an insouciance pervading every aspect of the life we share. I don't know when it started – I'm ashamed that I don't know. How could I not realize that the evenings we spent with barely a word exchanged between us, had replaced the nights when we could scarcely stop making love long enough to rehydrate our bodies? When did he stop looking at me with a hunger that made my cock instantly hard and my thighs tremble? When did we stop making eye contact at all?

The whole story is a wake up call, to the characters and to the readers. As you look at their life together from Edward´s eyes the love that bound them together...the silences that set them apart.

"We always made love when it stormed," he says, sounding lost in thought.

I consider not answering; but he, too, is remembering how the raw power of the storms used to ignite us, spurring us to such visceral, passionate lovemaking. For the first time in I-don't-know how long, we're of the same mind, even if it's only for a brief moment. My conscience won't let me ignore him.

Without stirring from my spot, I quietly reply, "I remember."

Another long silence elapses. "I'm starting to forget."

I don't want to spoil it for you. Grab some tissues, you will need them. Read and enjoy. And when you are ready go and leave some love for the beautiful starfish422 who definitely has a way with words.
In a separate note I have to share my excitement over the new edition of the SlashBackSlash contest, this fandom needs more boy love! So if you are a writer please consider writing for the SBS 4.0 and if you are a reader you can support and cheer for your favorites or maybe consider joining the writers team? Either way, it is a great opportunity for all of us slash lovers.

I shall see you all next time for another great story.

Have a great week, Connie.

Hello my loves. My reading habits have fallen from what they used to be, so I had to do a little fic diving to come up with my rec today. Normally I hate to do it but when I jumped in and found Carlisle and Jasper waiting for me on the other end, I think it was worth the trip. Have Mercy by texasbella was written for the Fandom for Juvenile Diabetes charity. Such a great cause and I thank her for writing it. Now let’s see what I found, shall we?

Fame can be an amazing thing, but it also comes at a price.

For years, rock star, Jasper Whitlock, has been forced to hide who he truly is. He can’t tell people that he has serious health problems and he definitely can’t tell people that he’s gay. The shock of that getting out could ruin his career.

One night after a concert, Jasper was hurting and in desperate need of his insulin shot. He left his band behind and went back to the hotel. Thankful that he’d dodged his fans, he settled himself into the elevator for the short ride to his floor.

He panicked when the elevator stopped, thinking a group of fangirls had found him. He was relieved – and excited – that he was wrong.

Instead of the gaggle of females I was expecting, it was only one man, a fine example of the male species that stepped into the car with a polite nod and a 'good evening' in my direction. I gave him a brief nod back.

The doors silently closed and the elevator moved up once again. I'm not sure why, but I allowed my eyes to travel over his backside. Taking in his dark, neatly cut hair. Appreciating the tailored cut of his suit that accentuated his broad shoulders tapering down to a narrowed waist. Licking my lips, I eyed the fullness of his ass and my mind conjured up delicious images of what I could do to that plumpness.

Unable to look at what he can’t have, Jasper closed his eyes. But what he didn’t know was that it gave the stranger the perfect chance to get a good look himself.

I risked a peek at him from under my eyelashes and found his eyes closed, so I relaxed and allowed myself to look him over.

His face could define beauty and I lingered there before lowering my gaze, taking in his toned arms erotically etched with ink. I wanted to step over and explore his markings with my tongue. Wanted to bury my nose in the thick leather collar around his neck and inhale deeply as I worked the zipper down, exposing his chest…

Jasper opened his eyes to the stranger and as they stared at each other, the lights flickered and the elevator came to a stop.

Trapped in the elevator, Jasper learned he was stuck with Dr. Carlisle Cullen. Unfortunately for him, Dr. Cullen didn’t have the extra dose of insulin that Jasper needed tucked away in his bag. Now Carlisle felt the need to care for Jasper, who had slipped into diabetic shock.

When the elevator begins to move and help finally comes, they help Carlisle get Jasper to his room where he can care for him. Question is… is the diabetic shock all Carlisle is going to treat him for?

texasbella an amazing job with this story. Her characters are so real and, even though they seem so different, they just fit together perfectly. I loved this story. I just wished there could be more. Even though Have Mercy is marked complete, she has so many others out there for you to sink your teeth into. So check out this story and all her others, and don’t forget to leave her some love. She deserves every word. Until next time…much love to you – D
